Although about ballooning, non of the footage here was taken from a hot air balloon. Instead, everything seen here was shot using a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter and a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition.

A short compilation of clips from a 3 day trip to amazing Cappadocia, Turkey. An amazing place full of volcanic peaks, incredible rock formations, cave dwellings and ancient temples and churches carved into the rocks. I rented a car and stayed at the very quaint and beautiful Üçhisar Cave Pension in their gorgeous cave room. It is situated at the base of the Üçhisar castle which is shown in the video. A fortress at the peak carved into the mountain itself!

One of the highlights in Cappadocia is to ride (or watch) the many hot air balloons which take flight at dawn. I went three consecutive mornings and flew the drone for aerial footage only two. I really wish I had more time. You simply can't predict which way the wind will blow, where the balloons will mostly fly or how quickly they will take off and leave the area. I had to reach the site and plan my shoot quickly on the spot. Fortunately, I managed to grab enough footage for a few short clips :)

Afternoons were then spent shooting other aerials over some amazing sites all the way up to sunset which I spent at the beautiful Sunset Point in Goreme. This sunset panorama can be seen at the end of this clip.

I do hope you enjoy the short video. Hopefully I'll have a few other videos from Cappadocia uploaded soon!

Note:

I was extremely careful not to approach too close to the balloons, hovering low when they were close and going up when the space around me was clear. The pilots however did seem very interested in the quad as they would descend pretty low to get closer to where I was hovering for a closer look... Very slight wind made it fairly safe.
